Has this ever been you?

If you’ve ever hidden behind other people, bushes, convenient tables or the camera to keep someone from taking a picture of your belly, I get it. You’re not alone.

For a very long time, I hated having photos taken. I’d avoid it, be conveniently out of the room, stand in the back row, hide behind something or outright refuse.

This is me at prom in 1997. I’m hiding behind a table AND my knee.

When I did allow someone to take a photo of me, later on I’d pick it — and myself — apart.

(And as a large-bodied person, I knew that the world disapproved of my body at least as much as I did.)

In fact, I first became a nature photographer in part so I could hide behind the camera. Whoops, sorry, I can’t be in that photo, I’m over here taking a very important photo of this flower. Yes.

But that’s an exhausting way to live. It sucked to be constantly hiding and apologizing for my body. And it sucked to deprive my loved ones of photos to remember joyful moments by because I was too busy hating myself and hiding.

When I became a portrait and boudoir photographer, something had to give. How could I capture people’s bodies while at the same time believing that bodies are shameful and should be hidden?

I had to change the way I saw bodies, but that wasn’t enough — I had to help my clients change the way they saw themselves.

That’s what I’m passing on to you.

It’s time being in pictures stopped being miserable. It’s time you were SEEN.

Allowing yourself to be seen takes effort, but it’s not a mystery. In fact, there are tried-and-true strategies drawn from psychology, therapy and activism.

SEEN. combines these strategies into one 6-month program along with personalized guidance and support from me before, during and after you have photos taken.

Use SEEN. to make your experience easier with ANY photographer or event — a wedding, party, boudoir or portrait session, family photos or even just having a friend snap some pics.

Cost: $497 (equity pricing and payment plans available)

Your fearless leader

For the last eight years I’ve been changing the world by normalizing images of people in larger bodies. That means helping people understand why we feel bad about our bodies in the first place, and giving plus-size and fat people a safe place to explore how their bodies look in photographs.

“Lindley was awesome. She made me feel comfortable, put my fears and nervousness at ease, and was just a delight to work with. You’ll love working with her. She gets how to talk with fat folks and make them feel like we are worthy of having beautiful, gorgeous pictures of ourselves.”

Nope! You can work with any photographer anywhere, or have a friend take your photos. You can even pair SEEN. with a self-portraiture course.

Currently, no. That said, I do encourage it. The support given by the Pre-Photo Hype and Post-Photo Love Sessions are an important part of a safe, supportive session experience, so SEEN. and my individual photo sessions are like peanut butter and jelly.

I’m happy to offer a full refund up to 48 hours after you sign up. Depending on the situation, I may be able to provide a partial refund at a later point. Please contact me to discuss it.

When in doubt, use the discount code. It’s there to help you, not to make you feel guilty, so don’t hesitate.

I have answers! Contact me and we’ll chat.

Each hype session is customized, so the agenda will vary, but in general you can expect to spend about 60 minutes with me preparing for your session. That could look like:

» Discussing what emotions are coming up for you and strategies for managing them
» Exploring where your body image comes from
» Learning how to use your voice with your photographer
» Planning wardrobe and props
» Learning poses to use for your photos

Have a whole cheering section in your pocket the day you have photos taken! Get quick support and last-minute encouragement. (Must reserve at least 1 week in advance. Available 8 am – 6 pm Pacific time via Discord, text or FB Messenger.)

Like the pre-photo session, each Post-Photo Love Session is customized, but in general you can expect to spend about an hour going through your photos with me. (If your photo session was with me, this is the first time you’ll see your images.)

Depending on how you’re feeling and what comes up for you, we may:

» Go through your photos together
» Discuss body fears and beliefs that popped up during your photos
» Explore your favorite and least favorite photos + why
» Take a kind and comforting look at your images
» Have a mini exposure therapy session
» Talk about how to make peace with your photos

You’ll get free access to any webinars and events I hold during your membership, plus the body doubling, fat-friendly hangouts and other events in the Body Liberation Blanket Fort.

Learn all about the Blanket Fort here.

For the duration of your SEEN. membership, you’ll get access to the Body Liberation Library, which includes both hand-picked and original resources I’ve developed:
